Hollow Bar (SDA) System for Micropiles, Anchors & Soil Nails

Self-drilling hollow bar installs drill + grout in one pass for unstable or loose soils. We supply bars, carbide bits, couplers, plates, centralizers, and grout hardware, matched to your spec and schedule.

Quick selector

  • Unstable/loose soils or speed needed → Choose Hollow Bar (SDA)

  • Spec requires solid bar or permanent casing → Choose Threaded Bar

  • Not sure? Send soil, loads, diameters, and schedule—we’ll recommend the best fit.

Where it’s used

  • Micropiles (compression/tension; constrained sites; low blow counts)

  • Ground Anchors / Tiebacks (temporary/permanent, depending on spec)

  • Soil Nails (cuts, shotcrete walls)

What we supply

  • Hollow Bar (SDA) String: common series for geotech work (project-matched)

  • Drill Bits: clay/sand/rock, carbide options; diameters matched to bar/soil

  • Couplers & Adapters: system-matched; adapters for rigs/rods as needed

  • Plates & Hardware: bearing/cap/nail plates, washers

  • Centralizers/Spacers: to maintain annulus and grout cover

  • Grout Hardware: tubes, packers, valves/fittings for injection/testing

  • Casing (if specified): temporary/permanent; plain/threaded ends

  • Documentation: cut sheets, product data, sample submittals; MTRs when available per mill/spec

  • Coatings (as required): HDG/prime/epoxy for plates, casing, and hardware (hollow bar typically supplied bare unless spec requires otherwise)

If you need rope/R-thread adapters for casing/rigs, we can supply them.

Typical packages

  • Micropile (SDA): Hollow bar + bit + couplers + plates + centralizers + grout hardware

  • Anchor (SDA): Hollow bar + bit + couplers + bearing plate + grout hardware

  • Soil nail (SDA): Hollow bar + bit + couplers + nail plate + spacers + grout hardware

Quote checklist

  • Use: Micropile / Anchor / Soil nail

  • Design: target loads, bar/bit diameters, length(s), couplers

  • Soil info: loose/soft/clayey/sandy, groundwater if known

  • Plates: L×W×T, holes/countersunk (attach sketch if possible)

  • Centralizers: spacing (if specified)

  • Casing: Y/N, size, end finish (if required)

  • Coatings (for hardware/plates/casing): HDG / Prime / Epoxy

  • Project: quantities, city/state, needed-by date; docs (submittals, MTRs)

FAQs

1. When should I choose SDA vs. threaded bar? Use SDA in unstable or loose soils and when speed matters (drill + grout in one pass). Choose threaded bar when specs require solid bar or permanent casing.

2. Do you supply bits and rig adapters? Yes—clay/sand/rock and carbide bits, plus system-matched couplers and adapters.

3. Can you provide plates, centralizers, and grout hardware? Yes—bearing/cap/nail plates, plastic/steel centralizers, and injection/testing hardware.

4. Do you offer coatings? Yes—HDG, prime, epoxy for plates, casing, and hardware (per spec). Hollow bar itself is typically supplied bare unless specified otherwise.

5. Lead times? Core sizes/bits are often quick; special bits, coatings, custom plates, or casing can add time.
